Sunday Night Astronomy

Thanks to a wonderful telescope we were gifted for Christmas of last year, we can now see the heavens in a new way. The post of Venus was only the beginning of what I hope will be called "Sunday Night Astronomy". When the opportunity presents itself, every Sunday night, we will attempt to observe and take pictures of other celestial bodies. We took some pictures of Mercury tonight, and I wanted to share some of them with you all (its harder to get a clean picture of Mercury than of Venus, because Mercury is so much smaller, even though it is closer to the sun).  The picture in the middle is DIGITALLY ENHANCED to show detail, while the picture above it is similar, but not changed.  The picture on the bottom is my personal favorite, as it displays the visible spectrum reflected by Mercury of the sun's light.

Ciao, Jarmans!
And congratulations on your 15th anniversary!

I am a friend of Wendie's from High school. Catherine told me about your blog, and I just finished reading about your adventures. Looks like you had a great time on Kauai. My wife and I lived on the Big Island for a few years and Kauai was our favorite place to get away.

Can't wait to catch up! My e-mail is theixos@yahoo.com

All the best!

I have friends. If only I could claim some contribution to this blog I could have some self esteem from it. I am glad it inspires you Jim. Get your HAM license and I can tell you how I am going to make your flags strong.
Barry I will have to e-mail you soon. I am so excited to hear from you.
